About the event

The 5-9 Micro Adventures is a new community driven project, hoping to build a platform that inspires people to utilise their time outside of work towards exploring and undertaking adventures that will help them reconnect with themselves and with nature.

The 5-9 Adventure talks will host the following main speakers with Q & A sessions.

Charlie Walker:

A British Adventurer, writer and motivational speakers, Charlie specialises in human powered expeditions, travelling by foot, bicycle, horse and canoe. His longest expedition was a 43,000 mile bicycle trip reaching the further capes in Europe, Asia and Africa, traversing 60 countries over a 4 and a half year period.

Tony Sanders Tony is a director and the operations manager at Off Grid Adventures and he has always loved working and playing in the great outdoors. Since hiking over Kinder Scout as a three year old, Tony has been lucky enough to climb, run, hike, swim and mountaineer throughout the UK and overseas. These include trekking in Nepal, open water swimming throughout the year, climbing Mont Blanc, running mountain marathons, sailing in a BT Challenger and running annual walking events in Chamonix and the UK. As a qualified Mountain Leader, with over 30 years experience of taking people, young and not so young, walking and camping in the hills, he loves nothing more than sharing that passion with others and helping them enjoy the outdoors. www.offgridadventures.co.uk

Jack Hudson:

Representing a third of The Wild Swimming Brothers, Jack Hudson will be joining us to talk about the native and foreign adventures he shares with brothers Jack and Robbie. If they are not swimming stretches of the Thames, lakes and British coastlines, you will find them swimming through some of the largest natural whirlpools of the Arctic filled with giant jellyfish and orcas. Great exemplars of balancing city living with outdoor adventure.

As well as these speakers we have active experts who will offer guidance within their field and opportunities to take part in future adventures they may organise.

We are firm believers in the mental health benefits gained from being outdoors, switching off from our phones and other modern stimuli, and engaging with what mother nature has to offer; from camping to climbing, from swimming to bush craft, from Yoga to Trail-running. With a plethora of opportunities out there within touching distance of the big smoke, we hope to educate, inspire and facilitate micro-adventures through talks and presentations from aspirational adventurers and expert partners. Not only will the community get a chance to hear some incredible stories, but will also have the opportunity to chat and mingle with our speakers, who in turn can help every day people realise that getting outdoors is more accessible that first realised. The 5-9 platform is a place for everyone to share and inspire one another through their adventures.
